No Gym, No Problem: 5 At-Home Workouts You Can Try
Heading into week 2 of social isolation in Boston and I am in dire need of a good workout! Gyms have been closed in an effort to quell the spread of the corona virus, leaving the home gym as the only workout option. To that end, I have put together a list of workouts that you can do outside the gym to keep you healthy and focused on your fitness goals.
Stretching & warm ups – this is something that you can do when home when getting ready for any workout.
Jump rope –I talked about incorporating this into my cardio routine in this post here.
Planks – planks are legit the bane of my existence but the perfect exercise for your core! You can plank pretty much anywhere are vary the level of difficulty to meet your fitness goals.
Lunges – these are easy to do but the trick is to increase the number of reps that you do to ensure that you are working those glutes and thigh muscles! You need to feel the burn …
Squats – I love a good squat! Once again, it’s all in the reps y’all. The more you do, the more you tone.
Yoga – this is one exercise that definitely doesn’t require a gym. I usually rely on apps like FitStar Yoga when practicing at home. I rely on the coaching the app provides and I honestly feel like I’m at a studio by the end of my workouts!
Do you have any at home workouts that you are doing during this period of social isolation?
I’m Binja, an African based healthcare IT consultant by day and an #Africancocktail at all times! Who is an #Africancocktail? Allow me to explain: I’m half Congolese (DRC) and half Kenyan (hella African) – that along with the fact that I’ve grown up in five countries on three continents has contributed to my being an amalgamation of cultures (or in my case a cocktail). Yes, I’m one of those ‘third culture kids’ who sounds British but speaks Swahili and French with an American accent. So yes folks – I’m an #Africancocktail!
