I love the arts! From afternoons spent at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to street art in Brooklyn (here), I love it all! So when the chance to fuse fashion and art arises, like with an art show or gallery opening, I immediately gravitate to styling looks like this one.
I pick a skirt that is both dramatic and graphic. The drama in this skirt is created by the pleats and the floral print is super graphic. Additionally the skirt itself is different in that it is half green and half floral – another nod to the creative atmosphere that the night calls for.
I paired this skirt with a simple sweater for the chilly New England evenings. Lastly, I added some of my favorite accessories, like this bag I purchased in Burkina Faso!
Overall, I am in love with how this look turned out! I am ready to walk into any art show and maybe not steal the show … but certainly have some heads turning!
How do you show up to gallery openings? We have 3 more days left in our series y’all! How did it all go by so quickly?! Drop a comment below on how you have enjoyed the series or over on Instagram @Africancocktail.
I’m Binja, an African based healthcare IT consultant by day and an #Africancocktail at all times! Who is an #Africancocktail? Allow me to explain: I’m half Congolese (DRC) and half Kenyan (hella African) – that along with the fact that I’ve grown up in five countries on three continents has contributed to my being an amalgamation of cultures (or in my case a cocktail). Yes, I’m one of those ‘third culture kids’ who sounds British but speaks Swahili and French with an American accent. So yes folks – I’m an #Africancocktail!
