I fell in love … with the grandest skirt I could find, and y’all, it looks amazing! I didn’t have anywhere to go until I put this skirt on and all of a sudden, we were out the door headed to a black tie dinner. Traditionally, back tie … is enforced strictly – that is to say, all black or mostly black. However, I am never without a pop of color y’all so I threw in some red. I had to respect the dress code (as we all should lol) but I also had to stay true to myself. I added red to the look with my coat selection, heels and the cutest purse. I mean if we are to have a pop of color against the black and white … red is always the way to go for me!
I have really enjoyed styling grand skirts in this series as I did with this dinner party look here. There is something so magical about a skirt that creates such a commanding atmosphere around it as this skirt does. Every woman needs a skirt that makes her feel absolutely amazing!
I saw some of my favorite style icons like Carolina Herrera unabashedly don these skirts and they looked so regal, so imperial and gosh like such badasses! And I wanted in – so I went out and got some of my favorite skirts like this one!

I’m Binja, an African based healthcare IT consultant by day and an #Africancocktail at all times! Who is an #Africancocktail? Allow me to explain: I’m half Congolese (DRC) and half Kenyan (hella African) – that along with the fact that I’ve grown up in five countries on three continents has contributed to my being an amalgamation of cultures (or in my case a cocktail). Yes, I’m one of those ‘third culture kids’ who sounds British but speaks Swahili and French with an American accent. So yes folks – I’m an #Africancocktail!
