Visa Requirements I

African, African Blogger, Boston Blogger, Passport, Luggage, Africancocktail, African cocktail, Visa, Visa Requirements, ImmigrationGenerally, there are basic visa requirements that most if not all countries ask for:

  • the most recent valid passport
  • copies of current and previous passport(s)
  • passport photos
  • the completed application form
  • and in some instances (many in my case) the application and visa fees

This post will address the first two visa requirements:

  • Passport – your original passport is a document that will definitely be required. *My pro tip is to ensure that before you head to an embassy or consulate to apply for a visa, that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your visit. This is crucial as countries need to know that you are there to visit not overstay and certainly not to remain illegally!

  • Copies of your valid passport – copies of your current and in some cases previous passport (page with your photo and page that contains the passport number) will be required. *My pro tip is to always have a hard copy (print outs) and a soft copy (saved as a doc on your phone or in an email) as you never know how many copies (of both the old and new passports) you may end up being required to provide.

Travel is usually strenuous if unprepared. My goal is to help you get ready for your visa appointments so that you can hopefully get your visa and head on your way to that amazing trip that you have planned!

Caveats:

  • these requirements pertain mainly to tourist visas
  • check the country’s website or call the embassy to clarify the complete list of required documents*
  • the list of required documents vary by region and country what I provide above are the main documents that about 90% of countries have as a common requirement

Disclaimer: I do not work at any consulate or embassy, nor am I in the travel industry. These are my personal observations and experiences. And as always, anyone applying for a visa should consult the country’s embassy for all required documentation and application procedures.
