Ghana: Authentically African

Ghana vibrates in every fiber of my being. Ghana reminded me why being African is so envied. Why our outfits and hairstyles are imitated and appropriated. When you walk down the streets and see the men walk with shoulders back, chests out and with the sun glistening on their chocolate skin, Ghana reminds me that we are beautiful. And so, I walked the streets, enjoyed the food and fell in love with a people that reminded me what the expression joie de vivre referred to!

I loved getting to meet the locals. I made sure that I stopped to chat with the locals. Some of my favorite interactions got me out of my comfort zone like when I met this taxi man. I call it: Me and somebody’s uncle! I love this mode of transportation and when he saw my exuberance and fascination with this mode of transportation, he said, ‘go ahead’ take your photographs – and one of me too!

As a traveler, my favorite part about a new place is meeting the people. I met Rita (above) who helped us get to the top of the monument at independence square. Her laughter was contagious!

This is my final post on Ghana … there was so much to do as I talked about in this post and this one here as well as so much slayage as I showed here. Ghana is the must visit country this year folks … get your tickets ASAP!
