These apps will help you start the year off right

If there’s one thing I love, it’s all the renewed motivation that a new year brings! I love being able to set new intentions as I have done with my new reads for the year.

Today however, the technophile in me is very excited to share the apps that I will be using to maintain my 2021 habits. I’ve broken down these apps into two categories and have added a bonus app just to round things off and well, I like things in three’s.

Category 1: Health

These are the apps that I will be using to help me maintain my newly set habits this year:

  1. Calm – This is my go to meditation app. If you’re not setting an intention to create time and space for meditation – what are you doing in 2021?!I’ve extensively shared about this app in multiple posts on the blog!
  2. Crossrope – this is a new app that I’ve been using to switch up my workouts. I’ve talked about my love for jump rope as a cardio alternative on the blog as well. This app helps set up workouts around jump rope and I’ve been loving it!
  3. Fitbit – I have the Fitbit Aria scale, which sync to the Fitbit app and helps me track my weight. I love being able to visually see how my weight is trending. I understand that for some weighing oneself isn’t something that’s considered healthy but I do it as part of my routine and health journey. It’s 2021 y’all, do what makes you healthy!
  4. Clue – I’ve used this app for YEARS. I was disappointed when I read a recent article that they collected and potentially sold personal data 🙁 However, the app’s features in my opinion are top of the line when you want to track your period, contraception and I believe pregnancy.
  5. Apple Fitness – Apple recently (December 2020) launched Apple Fitness and I love it! I love any sort of class based cardio and well – showing up for these classes is helping me maintain my 2021 health habits.
  6. Pillow – This sleep tracking app is one that I have used for a while now. Want to know much of your sleep was in REM, restful or restless? Well Pillow tracks it all and syncs with the Apple Health App. I use this app to track how behavioural changes and new sleep habits are affecting my sleep. It’s been super revealing which behaviours pre-bedtime encourage good sleep and which don’t!

Category 2: Finance

  1. Mint – I LOVE this app and have spoken about it previously here & here. This is the app to download when you need to track your money, save and even figure out what to invest in!
  2. PayPal – I use this app when transferring money and it’s one of my faves! When dealing with foreign currency, PayPal converts the amounts for you so that you know exactly how much the other person will receive.
  3. BofA – All I can say is bank statements and adulting … and also money transfers but mostly the statements.
  4. Venmo – Are there folks who don’t have it yet? I love this app for so many reasons the prime being easy money transfer. Wanna get that $5 a friend owes you?  Tell em to venmo you. Trying to split checks at a restaurant? Venmo! This app makes sending and receiving money extremely easy.
  5. Amex – I earn my Delta miles on my Amex and well, I love the app! I can view my statements, small businesses that I can support, earn my Delta miles (LOL) and find where I can get bonus points on purchases.

Category 3: Habits

  1. Streaks – this app holds it all together for me. I might need another post for this but I have mentioned this app before on the bog but I am loving how I have re-organized the app to track some of my key 2021 habits.

Are you using any of these apps? If not, what are you using to start the year off right?
