The Summer Accessory You Should be Wearing // Sailormade

You know that feeling when you meet someone for the first time and it seems as though you have known each other for a while? That’s what it felt like meeting the dynamic duo behind Sailormade. I walked into Sailormade’s workspace at SOWA marketplace in Boston, MA and was immediately taken by the jewelry and the bubbly team that greeted me! It also didn’t hurt that they had an awesome charcuterie spread and some drinks, which made me feel right at home!

Meet Bridget Logue, owner and the creative mind behind Sailormade. Bridget, a native New Englander, comes from a long line of entrepreneurs. She’s a fourth generation entrepreneur. Her great grandfather started the family business: brass manufacturing, which her parents now run. It’s no wonder that after graduating with her degree in Interior Design from George Washington University, Bridget didn’t see working for anybody but herself as her only option post-grad.

Y’all there’s such a fire that gets ignited in me when I connect with women who are passionate about starting and growing their own businesses. Bridget has been successfully running her business for three years. She is an impressive leader not only creatively as Sailormade’s lead designer but also as the visionary behind this growing enterprise.

Each of the pieces made at Sailormade tell the story of escape, nostalgia and luxury. Their pieces are inspired by Bridget’s experiences: stories of how her family spent time fishing, to stories about her using jewelry pieces like the brummel from her parent’s brass company and even her incorporation of some interior design elements. Bridget’s pieces are individually unique and über stylish!

It was such a treat for me to see where the products are actually made. From the rope that is used to make the bracelets to the leather and brummel pieces that are used as Sailormade’s signature clasps, it was easy to see how the space, history and the team coexist to create such inspired and high end pieces.

There’s a reason why their slogan is: from sea to city. Sailormade is all about making the bracelets you never take off, which is evidenced by the look and feel of their pieces (and by my developing obsession with my bracelet). Their Fid Cuffs for instance (pictured below) are pieces that are coated with PVD: a coat that ensures that the look of the cuffs maintain their luster despite the elements – whether at sea or in the city. These cuffs are some of my favorite pieces from their collection as they easily transition from day to night and would complement pretty much every outfit I own!

The Sailormade collection ranges from braceletsnecklacesearringsringsbelts and hats all look like a coastal daydream, which is why they are the summer accessory you should be wearing. They literally have something for everybody and bonus: they make the perfect gift!
