Visa Process:
- None! If you are flying into Bermuda from the United States and have a valid visa (work, school) you do not need a visa! This is one of the few places that I get to travel to that doesn’t require a visa, which meant that I saved money! I didn’t have to fly out to an embassy or pay any visa fees y’all! God is good …
Overall:
- The island was very pricey – it’s one of those locations that requires you to come prepared to pay a surcharge on the food as a lot of it is imported.
- The food was a tad disappointing – I was excited to try all the plantain the island had to provide and any fish dishes that were specific to the island but I didn’t find any that made my taste buds leap for joy …
Would I go back?
- Yes! I would go back when I’m in a better position to spend more money. I was on the island for five days and four nights and the sticker shock on the food and activities was a deterrent for me as it determined how many activities I got to enjoy on the island.
Recommendations:
- Take the bus! I took the bus everywhere, which saved me money. I would recommend doing this or renting a scooter. The buses do generally arrive on schedule but these are few and far between over the weekend so plan accordingly. Taxis are incredibly pricey so avoid them like the plague!
- Meet the locals. The people are just amazing! I laughed with the locals over Shirley Temples and palanced (danced) to some dancehall, which definitely made this an experience worth coming back for!
- Eat only one meal at the hotel. To save money, I suggest getting out of the resort and mingling with the locals. The more you talk to the locals, the more you find out where the cheaper eating spots are. I can’t promise better food but I can promise cheaper meals … just being honest here.
So there we have it folks – the #RunDown: short, sweet and to the point!
