Polka Dots Top // Zara

The sun is shining in Boston today and May has some promising weather for us folks! Today I would like to introduce you to ‘the Binja’ – a pose where I throw my head back in full laughter and just savor the joys of being alive! This pose was named after yours truly by my friends. They always capture me best when I’m mid laugh for some reason and well folks, it just stuck and ‘the Binja’ was born!

I’m a firm believer in 3 things that constitute a good friendship:

  1. nicknames
  2. receipts aka evidence that could bring you down
  3. laughter

I’m lucky to have some great people around me that through both good and bad times make space for me and all of who I am! It’s crazy to even articulate but in this day and age where comparison is king, it’s rare to find a handful of people that are truly cheering you on. So to my friends, I say thank you for letting this Africancocktail be her authentic self.

My friends support me in many things and have even used ‘the Binja’ in their own photo shoots! It’s a sure win and honestly my usual state! On average, I’m a joyful person … very rarely will you find me upset (even on a 6am flight!). I try to always be positive and maintain a jovial spirit, which is why ‘the Binja’ is a perfect depiction of who I am!

Back to the look! This outfit was one that I put together during a shoot in the South End of Boston, MA. I really love the South End and this location was perfect to feature this black and white look. Boston’s South End is a lovely neighborhood where you are always sure to find a stately brownstone and some of my favorite restaurants like the Southend Buttery.
