I love ice cream. I love rich, creamy, tasty, drip down the cone to my hand ice cream. I love garnishing it with coconut flakes, gummy bears and sprinkles! I swear I’m a five year old when it comes to my love for ice cream. So when I got introduced to Tillamook, I was optimistically curious.
A 110 year old farmer owned brand? A brand that connects farmers to food lovers through dairy products? Yeah … I was curious alright. It sounded a little too good to be true so yeah, I went to the grocery store, found Tillamook ice cream and various cheeses and got to tasting. Soooo y’all didn’t tell me that they made crazy good ice cream in Oregon!!! Whatttt?! I lost it.
Boston had a heat wave earlier this month and your girl comfortably crushed a whole tub of strawberry (my FAVORITE) ice cream! I have no shame and would do it all over again … in a heartbeat. And I did! I went to Tillamook’s pre event as well as Tillamook Fest over at Bow Market in Somerville.
I lost it! Hahaha I went bananas over how chefs at Hot Box in Somerville used Tillamook Cheese in their pizzas! Yes – I did get the recipe!
- 8.5 ounces pizza dough
- 3 ounces of your favorite sauce
- .75 ounces of Tillamook Shredded Sharp Cheddar
- 2.75 ounces of Tillamook Shredded Mozzarella
Roll out pizza dough into a 10” pizza pan. Next add sauce all the way to the edge of the pan. Top with shredded cheeses. Bake at 600 degrees for approximately 8 minutes, or until the edges appear burnt.
So I spent the afternoon tasting various Tillamook inspired recipes like the cheese pizzas by Hot Box as well as empanadas from Buenas and drinks from Remnant Brewing.
