Cocktails in Bermuda

Bermuda was an escape destination for me! The flight time to the island from JFK is about two hours and change (20 minutes to be exact) … which is ideal when looking to make a quick island getaway. Guys, this flight took about the same time as my flights to Durham, North Carolina! So yeah, it was a no – brainer when looking for a destination that offers a warm escape from New England weather.

The Hotel

I stayed at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort and Spa in Hamilton. This hotel was right on the beach. The room featured an ocean view that allowed full view of each sunrise and sunset. The balcony made for amazing morning views and peaceful evening meditation!

Grotto: Italian for cave

The resort had caves – yes ladies and gentlemen, caves! I swam in them, which was both scary and exciting as you never really knew what was in the water … Yikes! This is what I live for when on vacation … experiences that take me out of my comfort zone.

How am I always on the phone? I’m probably checking to see if there is wifi to upload my stories! I try to disconnect when on vacation but let’s be real – I love sharing where I am with my family and friends, which makes wifi a precious commodity. Front Street has a good number of restaurants and clubs so if you’re looking to dine out and dance, it’s the place to be! It’s also right across the street from the ocean so you have views for days and you can board the water taxis as another way to explore the island!

Besides the food, my love for travel gets fueled by all the visuals in a new city. Hamilton, Bermuda had this mural – Legacy of Love – that just made me come alive! It’s a celebration of of love and freedom that its inhabitants and visitors get to enjoy.

The Architecture

St. George

This was one of my favorite locations on the island. It had the most colorful houses, freshest sea food and most historic architecture. St. George is a walkable little town where you can meander and get lost in the twists and turns of the alleyways.

There are boutiques like the perfumery where I got one of my favorite scents: Lili Bermuda! This town has lots to offer and should be a stop during your trip!

The Forts

Royal Naval Dockyard, Sandys Parish

This fort was constructed in 1860 by the British to protect against American invasion on the island. It is no longer an active port. Today, this naval yard is home to the National Museum of Bermuda and a variety of specialty boutiques! As you can tell by now … the struggle not to shop was entirely too real!

The Beaches

This island was everything that you imagine it to be: white and pink sands, turquoise clear blue ocean water, the kindest people and the most amazing food! I came very prepared to soak up the rays and strut my stuff in my swimsuits! If you are looking to be a beach bum … this is the place for you.

Even on a ‘busy’ day – the beach was still peaceful and allowed for lots of relaxation and reading. Or you could just have a mini photoshoot like I did (ain’t no shame in my swimsuit game)!

Horseshoe Bay

If you are one of those travelers that seeks unique locations, then Horseshoe Bay is the place for you! A quick walk from the convenient changing rooms by the beach and you land on the whitest sand that when the sun hits at the right angle … appear pink!

I know there is black sand on the beach in Hawaii (on my bucket list) but seeing pink sand?! A highlight for me on this trip: pink sands on Horseshoe Bay
