In keeping with ushering the spring in with my favorite dresses (see this one here and here) today I bring you my checked mini by Zara.
Now, there are days when I feel confident in the look that I am putting together and then there are other days when I am insecure about a look. This was a look that made me feel insecure. Why? I’m a thickums African woman and my conservative upbringing was yelling that this dress was entirely too short but on the other hand, I knew that I needed to try something new. I needed to take a risk. And so I figured that I play with classic colors: black and white. I decided that I wanted to mix prints – checked and gingham.
And so folks, this was the resulting look. Putting this look together renewed my confidence. It’s not necessarily about the outfit but about the person wearing the outfit. If I let my insecurities hold me back, there wouldn’t be this much sauce in one look! I love how the bell sleeves and fit give this look a classy fit. The gingham heels are a refreshing addition to an otherwise serious outfit.
Oh! I almost forgot my favorite accessory – my Aldo mini trunk purse. Is it cute? I saw it and had to buy it as I knew one day – this day would come. And boy is it the cherry on this look! What do you guys think?
