Work Wear

Day 2

Work wear is one of my favorites to style! I work in tech so we don’t have a strict work style; however, I still choose to bring tons of style to my work looks. Today’s look is all about bringing fashion to the workplace. When putting together a work look, I alway ask myself these three questions: is it comfortable, practical and fashionable? If the answer is yes, then I’m good to go! This look definitely checks off all three boxes.

I live in New England where the fall has cool mornings followed by unseasonably warmer weather in the afternoon. It’s tough to dress for weather that changes as the day progresses. But for those days when you don’t know if it’s going to be a cool or warm day, this is the look for you.

I paired a long white duster coat with a form fitting pencil skirt (a work wear must have) and one of my favorite fall staples – a white knit sweater. Knits are a must have in the New England fall and winter seasons. I chose this white on white on white combo as it is the perfect way to bring in some unexpected fashion to your workwear. To break up the monochrome white, I chose to add black and brass to the look. The black in the leather stripes on the pencil skirt provide structure and also accentuate my curves … a plus! These black heels are a favorite pair. I can walk in them for a good portion of the day without any pinch or pain – this is key as I am always on the move throughout the day especially when at client sites! I always have a pair of flats or converses in the event that my feet get sore. Anyone else always have a backup pair of shoes when you start your day in heels?

The last piece in any look are the accessories. For this look I added some earrings, a handbag and my oversize sunglasses. The earrings as well as the hardware on my handbag are brass colored, which make the look feel more sophisticated. The handbag itself is practical and stylish. It’s big enough to carry my work accessories all while leaving enough room for my backup shoes!
