High Tea

Day 9

I love high tea … the food, the outfits … the pomp and circumstance. High tea is one of those occasions where I feel the need to keep things classy with a side of luxurious. I like taking the time to think through these outfits as I believe they set the scene for one of my favorite times: tea time! Im half Kenyan and in Kenya we take tea time very seriously. In fact the saying ‘anytime is tea time’ really holds true there. So whenever the chance arises where an invitation to high tea is received, I definitely dress the part.

I make sure that my skirt is knee length or longer – midi skirts are perfect for this occasion. I also ensure that I stick to more subtle tones. So I usually wear blush colored (or neutral) tops and a bolder print that complements the top. Finally I accessorize with some statement earrings, sunglasses, a clutch or small purse and sensible heels – usually a block heel and always under five inches.
