Traditionally, cocktail party etiquette calls for a glamorous knee-length dress (or longer) paired with luxurious adornments. However, as modern day cocktail party attire goes – that look is no longer the sole definition of cocktail party chic! Nowadays, you can rock a casual-glam look to a cocktail party and be right at home. Trust me, this Africancocktail knows a thing or two about how to dazzle at these soirées!
In this case, it involves my favorite Santorini print midi skirt by Chicwish! You always need a center piece item when going for the casual glam look. You know, a pièce de résistance of sorts: this skirt’s print and vibrant colors automatically draw the eye to it. Additionally, its length and print add the glam in cocktail glam. Pairing the skirt with this casual tee from Primark, we begin to have the makings of a cocktail outfit. It’s important to note that we aren’t taking away the essence of the cocktail party – we are simply making it more accessible.
Ok – at this point we all know that no glam look is complete without a stunning pair of strappy and fringe heels like these shoes. Once the skirt, top and shoes are set, the accessories come next: these gold rimmed sunglasses add a touch of glam to the look as well as these gold and royal blue earrings. I’m half Congolese – we are big on gold accessories … you’ll rarely catch me in silver!
Top the look off with a duster coat for those fall nights and you are all set – rather, you are cocktail party ready!
